Starting in the grounds of Carreg Cennen Castle, this route allows you to view this iconic Welsh castle on its steep limestone crag from every angle.

It starts by climbing to the castle before descending through the woods to the river Cennen.

It then uses an old Drovers route to get up above the castle, affording fantastic views.

Beyond the hills, you then emerge onto the Brecon Beacons, taking a short detour to visit the gushing source of the River Loughor, which emerges from a cave system under the Black Mountain

A walk along part of the Beacons Way gives a taste of the vast moorlands of the National Park before heading back to the castle café and farm via fields, woods and county lanes.

This walk has several stiles and some long hills.
