Lisa’s Inspiration
Hi, I’m Lisa and I set up Quiet Walks in 2021, initially as a walking blog during lockdown. It kept me motivated and helped local people find interesting routes in the local area.
However one thing led to another and I decided to leave my job and retrain as a walk leader. I only had a little walking experience so my starting point was quite low. Following my training and assessment with Mountain Training, I overcame my fear of compasses and I am now a qualified ‘Hill and Moorland Leader’ with full insurance and Outdoor First Aid.
Quiet Walks was inspired by Susan’s Cain’s Book ‘Quiet’ which is fascinating, especially if you’re an introvert like me. I hope my walks will allow quiet people to join in a group walk without the fear of being overwhelmed, which is why I’ve limited group numbers to eight and why I seek out the quieter spots rather then the ‘hotspots’.
This does not mean my walks are not sociable – they really are – but they also make sure there is time and space for quiet moments, even if it’s just to hear some birdsong or to take a slow, deep breath of fresh Welsh air.
