COST: £15 per person scheduled walks
This 6km (3.7 mile) circular from Llandovery Station is mostly flat so suitable for anyone who wants an easy walk which only takes a couple of hours. There are stiles however so you would need to be able to get over these, with or without assistance. There is one short hill also.
The route goes initially into the town to look at the remains of Llandovery Castle and the shining statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan, after which you walk to the grade 2 listed Waterloo Bridge to see the convergence of the rivers Bran and Gwydderig – both of which flow into the Towy.
Not long after, you’re following the Bran out of town and up to St Michael’s Church at Llanfair, overlooking the town. Next you head towards and cross the Heart of Wales railway line before heading into sections of shady woodland and fields.
You emerge opposite Dolauhirion Bridge and walk back into town along the Towy river and via the Tonn Estate.
This is a relaxed and pretty walk which most people with moderate fitness should be able to manage.
Please note it may be done in the reverse direction.
